01Overview
Tocopherol ingredients, described technically
ANM supplies Vitamin E ingredients — tocopherols and tocopheryl esters — in oil and powder formats for nutraceutical, food, premix and animal nutrition manufacturers. Each grade is defined by its own specification.
Vitamin E is a group of fat-soluble compounds. Tocopherols show antioxidant activity in fats and oils, so they are used both as a nutritional ingredient and, in suitable grades, to help limit oxidation in lipid-rich formulations. Esterified forms such as tocopheryl acetate are more stable in handling and storage, and are commonly chosen where Vitamin E is added for its nutritional contribution.

Vitamin E and tocopherol questions
Which Vitamin E forms do you supply?
Oil grades, including an alpha-tocopherol oil at 50% (500 IU/ml), tocopheryl acetate grades and Vitamin E powder. Feed grades are specified separately. The exact form and potency are confirmed per grade.
What is the difference between tocopherol and tocopheryl acetate?
Tocopherols are the free forms of Vitamin E and are active as antioxidants in fats and oils. Tocopheryl acetate is an esterified form that is more stable during handling and storage, so it is often preferred in tablets, premixes and dry blends. The right choice depends on your formulation and its purpose.
Can Vitamin E be used as an antioxidant in a formulation?
Tocopherols have recognised antioxidant activity in fats and oils and are used in some formulations to help limit oxidation of the lipid phase. Whether that use is appropriate, and how it must be declared, depends on the grade and the destination market’s regulations. Our team can share the relevant technical data.
